The Animal Welfare (Licencing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 came into force 1 October 2018

For England only, these Regulations replace the Riding Establishment Acts 1964 and 1970. The Riding Establishments Sub-Committee (RESC) at the RCVS consider that these Regulations are in the most part a consolidation of previous pieces of legislation, and do not contain significant or substantive changes which affect the current processes or procedures involved in the inspection of Riding Establishments.

However, there are some small changes introduced by the new Regulations. RCVS Riding Establishments Guidance – England

For Wales and Scotland, the Riding Establishments Acts continue to apply.
