Educated to degree level and/or possessing relevant experience of working in media relations, event PR and issues based campaigns, you will lead the Communications Team in creating and delivering compelling communications that will give donkeys a voice, engage target audience groups such as supporters and internal and external influencers and stakeholders, and build public support for our work. You will proactively manage the charity’s corporate reputation ensuring professionalism, consistency and the highest standards incorporated across all Donkey Sanctuary communications.
Able to build, develop and maintain excellent working relationships, and possessing good influencing and diplomacy skills, you will engage key external influencers such as journalists, bloggers, commentators and celebrity ambassadors to promote the profile and credibility of The Donkey Sanctuary, its work, policies and values, and motivate and nurture your team to enable development and implementation of communications and campaigns strategies and plans in support of key Donkey Sanctuary organisational goals. Experience of working with the media at a national level, of issues/crisis management, and of giving PR counsel and media advice to a wide range of staff including senior management, is essential, as are the ability to identify and develop creative and engaging public communications opportunities, excellent writing, editorial and organisational skills. Previous experience of working in a communications role for an animal welfare charity, and of working with the media at international level is desirable.
