The Donkey Sanctuary

The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities, currently supporting projects in over 35 countries worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

We are now looking for an Internal Communications Officer to join our busy Communications team. Ideally educated to degree level and possessing experience of working within the communications sector, you will support the Internal Communications Manager with the day-to-day management and delivery of the internal communications strategy, and will assist with the provision of communication information, advice and guidance to stakeholders across The Donkey Sanctuary.

Able to demonstrate an excellent standard of English, you will research and produce innovative, engaging and meaningful communication materials and activities for staff and volunteers across the world, including articles for staff events and newsletters. You will also develop and deliver internal communication plans and activities which inform, inspire and involve our people in our cause. A demonstrable understanding and application of internal communication best practice, together with the ability to project manage, plan and deliver key communications working with a number of departments and internal stakeholders at all levels is essential; as are excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain a high-level of attention to detail while managing a large number of tasks to multiple deadlines. Proof reading and presentation skills, and experience of creating and editing video content are desirable.

If you feel you have the qualities, skills and experience to fulfil this varied, rewarding and vital role, and would like to be part of the evolving program of change taking place within the charity, we would love to hear from you. Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty” – this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible.
