The British Horse Society is the nation’s largest equine charity with a passion for horses that is backed by knowledge and expertise. The BHS represents and provides a range of services for horse riders, horse owners, enthusiasts and professionals.

It is an exciting time at The British Horse Society and we are looking for a Volunteer Manager to manage all elements of volunteering within the BHS.

The BHS has close to 1,000 volunteers and they are vitally important to the work of the society.  This position would be perfect for an energetic and experienced volunteer manager who loves a wide variety of activities: recruiting, co-ordinating, leading, supporting and organising volunteers.  This person will work with our Development team in managing BHS activities across the UK and liaise with the Welfare, Safety and Access departments to support their work, developing partnerships and assessing their volunteering needs. We are looking for someone who will ensure that there is support and training for all our volunteers and also be responsible for the management and implementation of volunteer policies and procedures.

The successful applicant will have excellent people skills, with an ‘extra mile’ approach to customer service. Experience of working with and managing volunteers is a must.  You will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player and be willing to travel throughout the UK.  Equestrian knowledge is desirable.
