NB:  This Code of Practice was revised in 2002 and re-published in 2003 in conjunction with the Humane Slaughter Association, RSPCA and the Livestock Auctioneers Association

  • MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND PONIES. Shetland ponies and Dartmoor ponies were followed to establish how long they were in the markets and to which markets they were taken
  • 1997 - CODE OF PRACTICE FOR WELFARE ORGANISATIONS INVOLVED IN THE KEEPING OF HORSES PONIES AND DONKEYS.  It was decided to write a Code setting minimum standards because one very large organisation in the UK was not managing its animals in a satisfactory way.
