NEWC Covid-19 Impact Survey – closes 22/5

NEWC are seeking to gain a real measure of the impact that Covid-19 has had, and will continue to have, on our sector’s ability to operate during the coming months of 2020 and into 2021.

In order to advise and inform UK Government and the devolved administrations on the issues that those working in our field are facing now and are likely to face, as well as providing a better understanding of our sector’s short and longer term needs, NEWC is carrying out an urgent and detailed survey of equine rescues and rehoming organisations across the UK.

The survey can be accessed via this link: ‘NEWC Covid-19 Impact Survey’  Please take the time to complete it on behalf of your organisation, in as much detail and as soon as you possibly can.

We estimate that the survey will take around 10-15 minutes to complete, and it will remain open until 5pm on Friday 22nd May.

The survey is designed to establish what major issues organisations in our sector are facing, not just financial, but operational. It is vital that we obtain as many responses as possible from ALL equine-keeping charities regardless of size, so that we can provide clear, evidence-based findings of the real impact experienced by our whole sector.

In partnership with the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH), who have launched a parallel survey for cat and dog rescues, our results will be combined to produce a comprehensive report to government. We urge you to include your name and rescue details but can confirm that the survey results when they are published, will be anonymised and no individual organisations will be identified.

We are aware that you may have completed similar surveys, particularly those organisations that deal with multi-species, so we appreciate you completing this for us too. Please tell us at the end of the survey, when prompted, if your organisation has completed a similar survey for either the Animal Welfare Network for Wales (AWNW) or the ADCH so that we can avoid duplicating any data.

We hope we can rely upon your support to share your experiences with us. Please get in touch if you have any questions by emailing

Thank you!
