Equine Hoofcare - March 2008
In 2006 NEWC set up a Sub Committee to look at barefoot trimming addressing the following criteria:
- The Philosophy of Shoeing and Barefoot Trimming
- Regulation
- Education
- Provision of Farriery and Barefoot Trimming Services
- Research
Following long discussions with registered farriers, veterinary surgeons, welfare agencies and industry professionals a Code of Practice for Equine Hoofcare has been agreed and is now ready for consultation.
The consultation period is six weeks and the closing date for responses was 30th April 2008.
Thank you to all those who responded to this consultation. All responses are now being analysed and considered and the results will be published here when the process has been completed.
