Owning a horse or pony of your own

Owning your own horse or pony is a big responsibility requiring time, money and commitment. Many member organisations publish information leaflets and booklets to help you.

British Horse Society: Buying & Owning your first horse  and  The cost of owning and keeping a horse and First Horse Owner Information Pack

BHS also run courses such as Horse Owners Certificate which has four levels and is suitable for new horse owners.

ILPH: Responsible Horse Owners Talks are offered nationwide to groups of people who want to learn more about what is involved in horse ownership.
